Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year. Teachers are providing excellent learning opportunities, and children are excitedly learning!

Now...what’s the plan for Linsday in the 2010-2011 school year?  If last year is any indication, we will continue to excel.  We will continue our school-wide commitment to bettering the lives of children through high expectations for all students and all staff. 

I am looking forward to it, and frankly, can only imagine where we are headed! 

Our academic goals include:

Science - Building a strong sense of teacher competency in the content and delivery of new science kits and State of Michigan curriculum through Professional Learning Communities for all teachers.

Social Studies - Building a strong sense of teacher competency in the content and delivery of the new State of Michigan social studies curriculum through Professional Learning Communities for all teachers.

Math - Increase student basic fact (+, -, *, /) recall in the areas of both speed and fluency through Math Facts in a Flash and Everyday Math games.

Writing - Increase teacher proficiency in the teaching of craft of writing.  This goal will be supported in PLC meetings, Professional Development, and by being certain we have the best materials available for the teaching of the craft of writing. 

Reading - Increase student comprehension and fluency of both fiction and nonfiction text through the use of Guided Reading groups in all classrooms.  Furthermore, Read 180 and System 44 will be used as reading intervention for students showing need for additional support  in grades 3 through 5.

Technology - Our goal continues to be technologically sound classrooms, including a document camera and projector in each classroom.  Teachers will also provide increased access to and use of web-based instructional materials, particularly in the areas of science and social studies.
